Far and Wide

As the holder-down-of-the-fort here in L'Arche Belfast these holiday weeks, I thought you might like to hear about the travels of the others.

Jillian, Deb, Noah, Scott and Octavia were at the beach last weekend. Jillian is there until tomorrow with Larry, Barbara, Mario who turned up on Wednesday. Joe has danced in and out of the group from his base in Dundalk. Larry will stay on for a few days of quiet before Thomas and Matthew turn up accompanied by Gregor (I think!). I have a sense, but no confirmation, that everyone will be back in his or her own bed next weekend.

Verena and Stephan passed through on their Northern Ireland & Dublin holiday, bringing pretzels and cheese mush from Bavaria. Lucie flew in from France on Wednesday night for a few days with...cheese and chocolate. Kevin, Isabelle, and Sophia will arrive for a nearly a week. One has to wonder whether they too will have cheese or if that is hoping too much.

Debbie is preparing for her big departure to Germany which is quickly approaching, and Rebecca has been slaving away on her dissertation. Maria is in Canada. But is she eating pancakes with maple syrup? Sharon was on holiday a couple weeks back but the location eludes me. Gosia will return next week from a long break in Poland.

The details are sketchy but presumably you get a flavour of the motation enjoyed by our community at the moment. I think I'll go have a cracker with cheese now.

Sounds like another lovely, magical round of holidays. I'm just catching up on "This week in L'Arche Belfast" as I wait for our financial auditor to come for our annual review. Thanks for taking me away from my "gruesome place" as we used to say, at least for a few minutes! Can I blink my eyes and be there?

Love, Sharon
