Happy New Year from L'Arche Belfast

Hi I'm Makiko (from Japan), a live-in assistant at L'Arche.

We have big news this month, We welcomed Matthew, a new core member in our community! Matthew has been a friend of our community for a long time, (he's a great worker in the Allotment as well ) Now he got his room in the Ember. Welcome Matthew !

We also welcomed new volunteer, Susan from Germany.

After the Christmas holiday, it has been again been relaxed atmosphere in the Ember. Thomas is back to the collage, he got a new alarm for waking up early in the morning for prayer on Mondays. Larry, who is helping me write this blog right now, is great at computer typing. He cooked gorgeous mashed potatoes & fishfingers last night. May also has been cooking delicious meal on Sundays. Maybe everyone should come to have her yummy dishes! Jillian creates beautiful flower arrangements at the centre, and also she enjoys doing Art session at the Ark every Monday.

Although daily life in the Ember is quiet relaxed and peaceful, we're busy with lots of events, parties & prayers. We had a welcome prayer for Matthew & Susan at our prayer house 'the loom'. We also had a reunion with past assistants James and Faythe, and a birthday prayer for Eimear. And more birthdays are coming for Neil and Lucy !

And we had fundraising event, Cinema night' put on by past assistant Rachael , it finished with great success ! We enjoyed nice food with a good movie.

Well, everyday looks the same but slightly different. I feel that more often than when I came here.

Anyway I wish for everyone a wonderful new year ahead !
